Tap dancing - Wickford, Essex - Sapphire School of Dance - Classes

Teaching ethos & standards

Here at the Sapphire School of Dance we follow the BATD syllabus, a comprehensive and popular choice. Taught worldwide, the BATD (founded in 1892) has no age limits with examinations and both Michelle and Danielle are qualified BATD teachers. Adult beginners who reach the required level of proficiency may choose to take examinations and achieve qualifications if they want. There are also options for training to become a dance instructor if you are seeking to develop your dance career along these lines.

We always maintain that dancing should be a joy, not a chore and never use pressure tactics on our students. Priding ourselves on a family atmosphere within the school, we are disciplined and professional but also fun and friendly in equal measures. Especially with our younger students, we believe it’s important not to be too strict but to let them blossom, only gradually introducing discipline. We want you to feel comfortable and above all, enjoy learning and performing your chosen dance style.

‘Firststeps’ for children

Designed for toddlers (accompanied by a parent or guardian), Firststeps aims to encourage children to enjoy dance, movement and exercise from an early age. We recommend you wear loose fitting, easy to move in attire although we can also provide shoe and uniform information later on in the term. There is no registration cost or termly fee, just £3.75 per class.

All-boys dance classes

We understand that for some boys or men, it can be a bit daunting wanting to learn dance but not knowing where to start. We heavily believe in equal opportunities for everyone and have recently introduced an all-boys dance class, where you can let yourself go and learn to dance without inhibition. Just call us today for more details.
